About Casananda

Located in Ortelle, southern Puglia, in the region of Salento, a charming, blissful corner of the world, this is a less developed part of Puglia, far from mass tourism and big hotels. It boasts dramatic coastlines, an abundance of ancient olive groves, framed by dry stone walls, amongst a rich and fertile amber soil.

The sun shines religiously upon this narrow peninsula that divides the crystal-clear waters of the Adriatic and Ionian seas.

Its slow paced sleepy villages are reminiscent of bygone years, giving visitors a real sense of going back in time, when life was less complicated.  Salento’s simple way of life is a quality in itself and forms the backdrop of its appeal to those who fall in love with its charm.

The energy here is noticeably strong and grounding.  Potential to connect to the elements is easily realised creating a perfect setting for the practice of Yoga, Meditation, Transformation and Healing.

Casananda can accomodate up to twelve guests. The rooms at Casananda have been carefully restored and reflect the simple beauty of the Salento. Each of the bedrooms has a bathroom en suite and each has a unique character of its own.

The kitchen is vegetarian and therefore no meat, or fish is served. The usual retreat itinerary includes breakfast, lunch and a light evening meal. Picnic Hampers and healthy snacks for Boat Trips and other outings are a favourite with Yogis who wish to practice in wilder locations.

The owner Karita Massara has a professional background as a private chef and caterer and a passion for sourcing and preparing the best local foods.
