Introducing Amy McDonald, our new Jivamukti teacher. Amy has 1000 hours of training under her belt having first trained with Yogahaven London and then with the Jivamukti Yoga School New York/London. Originally from NZ, Amy is passionate about yoga and how it has the ability to touch and transform lives. 

Amys teaching focuses on alignment and breath, attuning the practice in such a way that the students are in a space to balance body, mind and soul, while becoming holistically stronger and increasing flexibility. She aims to create a place where students feel inspired and empowered and that they leave the class feeling uplifted and energised. What asana is your nemesis?

At the moment, Pinchamayurasana/Forearm Balance...I have a bit of fear looming around that one which is all good. Its a process of working through that and learning from the thoughts and emotions that come up during the practice. I think inversions are interesting as they really bring up emotions, mental blocks and mental and physical tightness, that we don't usually address as we are quite unconscious of it. Once you can work through it in the safe environment of the yoga practice, it then has the ability to give confidence and strength not just physically but also mentally and emotionally.  

What is your guilty pleasure?

Raw chocolate!!

What did you have for breakfast this morning?

A bowl of raw spouted muesli with berries and almond milk....with a green tea....yum yum :) Breakfast is my favourite meal of the day. 

Where did you last go on holiday and did you take a mat?  

I just took a short trip to Spain to teach on a retreat and then visit my sister who lives over there. I didn't take my mat this time but I did practice and teach in different studios. I love trying out new studios and teachers while Im away, it gives me lots of new ideas and inspiration for my practice and my teaching.
